“I want to say thank you for the information and skills that were taught during 2017’s Great Florida Fire School. Today we had a structure fire where we were the third unit to arrive. Upon our arrival we were assigned search. The fire in the house was located in the attic but the first units were having difficulty locating it.  Upon walking up to the structure, I implemented the skills and techniques that I learned with using the tic for a quick size up of the building and identified the layout. Upon entering the garage, me and my partner were able to locate the seat of the fire with the tic in seconds that the other crews had been searching for, for approximately 3 minutes and because of that they were able to get a good knock down on the fire. Me and my partner were able to do a search of the house quickly and efficiently using methods that I had learned and brought back to my department from what I learned at the Great Florida Fire school. It’s not every day anymore that we get structure fires so it’s more vital than ever for us to continue to train and make ourselves better and I can say that what I learned while I was there made a difference. Again, thank you for all the instructors at the Great Florida Fire School for your dedication and commitment to making us better as a brotherhood and as professionals.
